0 comments Before you start your backyard farm, you may want to ask yourself, What tools do I need before I start? Great question!
Realistically, you dont need much. I recommend the following: 1. Bow Rake 2. Bucket 3.
Spade 4. Pitch Fork 5. Sheet of Plywood 6. Hand Fork 7.
Trowel 8.
Small Knife 9. Tape 10. Popsicle Sticks 11.
Pencil or Pen 12. If your making a Raised Bed youll need cinder blocks (See Previous Post) 13. Youll also need some sort of irrigation like a watering can or a hose (try water collectors with drip irrigation hoses!) These are the basic gardening equipment you will need to get started on a backyard farm. All of the above tools should run you $100 or less. You can pick up many of these tools at a local hardware store or browse through craigslist to find used equipment for pennies on the dollar! For the last few weeks I have been trying to find farming tools and equipment made locally or at least within the United States. I have also been looking for tools made out of recycled or renewable resources.
